Everything we can do to your saree before it leaves our shop in Salem: blouse stitching, pre-pleating, falls, pico and tassels. Choose them on the saree's own page, under the price.
Blouse stitching
- ₹600, one price for sizes 28 to 50, plain or padded
- Stitched from the saree's own blouse piece, lined, princess cut
- By our own tailoring unit in Salem
- Adds about 7 working days before dispatch
- Order by 30 September for your blouse to arrive before Navratri
What you choose
Size (required), sleeve (short, elbow or sleeveless), sleeve length and sleeve round in inches (only if different from the standard for your size), front neck, back (plain or shoulder knot) and padding. There is also a box for anything else our tailor should know.
How to find your size
Your size is your bust in inches. Measure around the fullest part of the bust over a well-fitting blouse, tape level and snug, not tight. Between sizes? Choose the larger. No tape? Lay a blouse that fits you flat, measure armpit to armpit and double it.

How to measure sleeve length and sleeve round
Sleeve length: from the edge of your shoulder down the arm to where you want the sleeve to end. Sleeve round: around your arm at that point, snug but not tight. Leave both blank and we stitch the standard for your size.
A stitched blouse is made for you and cannot be returned or exchanged. Unsure? Message us on WhatsApp with your usual readymade size and we will help.
Pre-pleating
- ₹300
- Front pleats and pallu set by hand, ironed and pinned, so you drape it in minutes
- Standard 9 pleats
- Adds 2 to 3 working days before dispatch
- For art silk, cotton, chiffon and georgette; not on heavy stone-work sarees
Want something different?
If you want a different number of pleats or a different pleat width, type it in the box when you choose pre-pleating. If you are unsure, leave it blank and we use our standard.
How to measure your hip
Stand straight and measure around the fullest part of your hips, tape level. If our pleater needs anything more, we will message you on WhatsApp before we start.
The pins come out at home when you drape it. A pleated saree cannot be returned or exchanged.
Falls, pico and tassels
Done by our tailors before dispatch. Adds about 5 to 7 working days. Not offered on stone-work, cut-work, crush or very heavy-border sarees.
Falls ₹249
A colour-matched cotton strip stitched inside the bottom border, so the saree drapes straight and the border lasts.
Pico ₹49
A fine rolled hem on both cut edges so the threads never fray. If you also choose tassels, pico goes on the inner edge only and the pallu threads are kept for the knots.
Tassels / kuchu ₹199
The loose threads at the pallu end hand-knotted into neat tassels, from the saree's own threads. Not beaded. Only offered on sarees whose pallu threads can be knotted.
A finished saree is customised for you and cannot be returned or exchanged.
Questions
Can I choose more than one?
Yes. Blouse stitching, pre-pleating and finishing can all be done on the same saree. The longest one sets the dispatch date.
Will my saree come before Navratri?
Order by 30 September with blouse stitching. After that we send the order as soon as the blouse is ready, or, if you ask us on WhatsApp, the saree first and the blouse later.
Can I see the shop?
Yes. Rathi Silk & Sarees, 113 Srirangapalayam Road, opposite Kiruba Hospital, Salem. Open 10 AM to 8:30 PM.
